Saints may be interested in RB Edgerrin James

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said on Wednesday that the team has had internal talks about pursuing free-agent running back Edgerrin James, but indicated they most likely will wait until after this weekend’s mini camp before any other talks continue.

“There’s been talk about Edgerrin James, and we’ve spent some time evaluating that prospect,” Loomis said. “We’ll continue to do that. We haven’t made any decision or closed any doors on acquiring another running back if we feel that’s something we need to do. We do feel a lot better about what we have in-house than people do outside of our building.”

James has 12,121 career rushing yards and was released by the Arizona Cardinals last week.
